Pinguicula primuliflora, the Primrose Butterwort, is a temperate perennial carnivorous plant known for its broad, slightly curled leaves with rounded tips. These glossy leaves are covered in digestive glands that coil inward to break down prey upon contact. It grows vigorously, forming clusters from new plants emerging at leaf tips and decaying foliage.
A valuable addition to any collection, it thrives both indoors and outdoors. Plants are delivered bare-root, wrapped in moist sphagnum moss, and require a small bowl or container for cultivation.
- Skill Level: Medium.
- Light: Min 1 hour direct sun, max all day.
- Water: It prefers constantly damp, and benefits from being submerged for days or a few weeks at a time. Never let the water level go below root level, top up the bowl to where only a small part of the plant is sticking out the water. The sphagnum will provide a surface to place it on. If you need, you can get sphagnum here to plant it in.Â
- Dormancy: It does not form a winter bud.
