Collection: Utricularia - Bladderworts
Bladderworts possess active traps and can be found in various environments, including aquatic, terrestrial, and frequently amphibious habitats such as pond margins. In aquatic settings, they often form mats of floating plants in acidic ponds and bogs, while on land they grow in damp, sandy, and acidic soil.
These plants are commonly overlooked until they bloom, revealing yellow, white, coral, or violet flowers. The bulbous traps, which are attached to the roots are typically less than 3mm in size and have a hinged lid surrounded by numerous branched plant hairs. The trap has a small opening that "sucks" small prey into the trap.
