Collection: Dionaea Muscipula - Venus Fly Trap
The Venus Flytrap is the most iconic Carnivorous Plant. Its traps are composed of two clamshell-like halves that snap shut with precision, triggered by three delicate hairs arranged in a triangular pattern. While each trap can close up to three times, it will eventually cease to respond.
This species is native to a small region in the Cape Fear River Basin near Wilmington, North Carolina, USA and is currently an endangered species, making it illegal to collect from the wild. Typically found in the moist, sandy, acid savannahs among grasses, sedges, and native orchids, the Venus Flytrap is a fascinating addition to any collection.
