Nepenthes gymnamphora, native to Java and Sumatra, is notable for its distinctive growth pattern. Similar to Nepenthes ampullaria, it produces numerous pitchers simultaneously at ground level on very short leaves. This unique trait is likely the basis for the name "gymnamphora," meaning "naked pitchers," as the pitchers appear to arise directly from the soil.
