Drosera paleacea derives its name from the Latin term meaning chaff-like, referring to its thin, dry leaf structures. This species is native to the Albany region of Western Australia, with known locations such as Lake Sepping and Frenchman Bay. It typically inhabits dense shrublands among reeds near paperbark trees, growing in black sandy soils that become waterlogged during winter.
